Reasons to attend and to not attend Baylor University
To Attend
- “Baylor has a very large network, and outside of college it’ll help you a lot. There are lots of resources, especially in the business school.”
- “If you are a Christian, it’s a really good place to keep up with your faith and have an environment of other people who are like-minded.”
- “The professors are really easy to reach out to. They will answer your emails and work with you if you have a problem.”
- “If you want to academically succeed by being close to your professors and having those smaller class sizes.” [The average undergraduate class size is 26.]
- “There’s a small-town vibe. If you’re from a city, it makes you appreciate the little things like spending time with friends. It makes you have to be creative to entertain yourselves during the weekend.”
- “The sense of community. It doesn’t feel like you’re doing it on your own.”
To Not Attend
- “If you’re somebody who grew up in a very culturally-oriented lifestyle and community, Baylor would be a culture shock and it would be hard to adjust to because of the strong White and Christian presence.”
- “Baylor is a very Christian university and I’m Muslim. You’re required to take a couple of classes that revolve around the Christian faith. As a business major, I don’t see that helping me get my degree.”
- “If you want a really fun college experience where you party a lot, this is not going to be the school for you.”
- “Waco is just ugly.”
- “If you really don’t care about athletics, Baylor is really big on football and basketball and that’s a big part of the experience here.”
